I am starting a new career digital in copywriting, creative writing, blogging, and some light journalism. “How does one do that?” you ask. Well, I have no idea. I really don’t. All I know is that I am 39 years old, and this is the first time that I can honestly answer the question. You know the one, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I know what I want to do, and I even know who I want to do it for, I can even tell you how I got to this point. I just don’t where to go from here.

So. Here we are. My plan, so far, is to just write about it. I am going to chronicle everything I do. Every mistake I make. Every success I have. Every time I fall flat on my face. Which I assume I will do often, metaphorically and literally (my battles with gravity are near legendary in certain circles). And I am going to do this strictly for your benefit. Well, not so strictly because I am try to run a business after all. Let’s say mostly for your benefit. I will do my best to ensure that every bump in the road, every screw up, and faceplant will be laid out in a map to make navigation easier for anyone who decides they also want to get into copywriting, with a few careers on the side.

Ok, so here is the first “bump”. How do I explain why you should listen to me? I don’t rightfully know yet. I can’t promise you that you will learn everything there is to know about copywriting and make as much money as I have. I can’t promise that because I don’t know everything there is to know, and I haven’t made one red cent. I don’t even know if you should listen to me. I might well be a giant failure. However, I will try to be entertaining, and I will try to show you how I failed (if I fail) so you can succeed. I will give you every tip and trick I pick up along the way from everyone that allows me to print their name, and link their websites. I do not believe (at this point) that I will ever try to sell you anything. I can’t see myself writing a program or designing a class. I may advertise here on my blog, or join an affiliate program, it is a business, or at least I hope it will be. I probably will not write exactly the way your English teacher taught you. I will mostly be writing the way it would sound if we were holding a face to face conversation, which will most likely involve a lot of commas in weird places and run on and/or incomplete sentences. I will try to answer any questions you may have along the way.

You may not actually ever see this. I may be just writing for myself. As of the time of this writing, I do not have a blog, or a website. I am writing on a word document with the hopes of one day starting a website but we all know how shit goes sometimes. Oh yeah, I will probably curse from time to time. But really, how many “Books” do we collectively have in a drawer somewhere or on a shelf. If you’re here, you must have some desire to write in one way or another. I know I have at least one novel floating around somewhere, and a whole slew of half-finished short stories. But all of this is for another post. I got way off topic there. Let’s get back on track. The point is I have started planning and moving things around in anticipation of starting this business and I am already running into problems and issues. It’s not easy to start a blog when you have absolutely no social media presence. I mean none.

I hope you enjoyed my rambling. I hope if you desire to write, you come back. Next I will be discussing my fights with Facebook.
